Xu Yong is a Full Professor and Vice Dean in School of Computer Science & Engineering at South China University of Technology, the director of Guangdong Big Data Analysis & Processing Engineering Technology Research Center. He is a member of IEEE and senior member of ACM, and the vice-chairman of IEEE Guangzhou branch. His research interests lie in big data, computer vision, and pattern recognition. He hosted and participated in 32 national and provincial research projects including NSFC(Natural Science Foundation of China), National 973 Plan and 863 Plan, etc. He has published 96 papers, in which 65 papers were are indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP. He has received 4 authorized invention patents, 14 software copyrights and 12 accepted invention patents. He obtained the second prize on science and technology progress of Guangdong province and the first prize on science and technology of computer academy of Guangdong.
