On the morning of October 20th, a Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed by Prof Lam Khin Yong, Senior Vice President (Research) of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and Chairman of the Governing Council of China-Singapore International Joint Research Institute (CSIJRI), and Mr Zhang Yu, Director of Guangdong Climate Centre of China (GDCC) at the 12th Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council (SGCC) meeting on supporting the implementation of a parametric flood insurance scheme for Guangdong province.
This collaboration aims to align with the concept of construction of “Digital Government” by applying modern technologies to perform feasibility assessment for Guangdong parametric flood risk by sharing and integrating monitoring data in flood risk mitigation and prevention to effectively compensating the shortcomings in current measures. NTU will contribute its international expertise and experience, and this collaboration between NTU and GDCC will help to deepen bilateral ties between China and Singapore, forming a good paradigm of collaboration that will achieve mutual benefits, and common development by technology innovation, talent exchange, mutual learning and share values.
Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui and Singapore’s Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung co-chaired the meeting.
