Prof. Ren have accumulated rich experience in the field of pilot-scale preparation, separation, and evaluation of natural bioactive compounds including polypeptides, glycoprotein, modified polysaccharides and polyphenols, etc., which are mainly involved with memory improvement, uric acid regulation, cancer prevention and inflammation control, liver protection, skin and joints caring, anti-aging, and so on. In recent years, the team have published 81 SCI/EI papers, being cited for 1270 times. Total 5 papers was selected as ESI Highly Cited Papers. In addition to one international patent, the team member have applied for 49 patents, and 27 of which have been authorized. Moreover, the team has also leaded two sub-projects of National 863 Program, two national natural science foundation projects and youth scientists projects, over 30 provincial projects and took part in more than 10 provincial projects. The outstanding work finally got a reward to be awarded a second class prize of Sci. and Tech. Of Guangdong Province, a first class prize of Sci. and Tech. of Guangdong Provincial Light Industry Association, as well as one excellent doctor degree dissertation of Guangdong Province.
