As a China-Singapore cooperation platform, CSIJRI aims to attract top talents, foster technological cooperation, and explore paths for research transfer. In its first phase, CSIJRI introduced over 70 commercialization projects across six fields: artificial intelligence, health and life sciences, new energy, new materials, green buildings & smart cities, and pollution control & environmental restoration. With nine overseas academicians and over 500 international researchers, it has published over 200 papers and secured over 150 patents, alongside nearly a hundred new processes and product innovations. Through research commercialization, CSIJRI has successfully nurtured several high-tech startups. Currently, it incubates 38 enterprises, including one "Little Giant" enterprise, six national high-tech enterprises, ten Guangdong Sci & Tech SMEs, and three innovative SMEs. They have collectively generated over 500 jobs and reaped revenue exceeding 240 million yuan. As the scale of incubated enterprises increases, the Guangzhou Lihua Zhongxing Venture Capital (Limited Partnership) was founded to inject more momentum into its development. The innovation system based on research commercialization and industry-university collaboration lays a solid foundation for CSIJRI's future development.
CSIJRI was established under the auspices of President Xi Jinping and Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong. Led by SCUT and NTU Singapore. Through research and talent exchange, it serves as a vital platform for innovation between the two countries. Currently, it is committed to driving research commercialization across six key domains: life and health sciences, new energy, new materials, artificial intelligence, green buildings and smart cities, and pollution control and environmental restoration. Under the leadership of top talents and with dedicated projects, CSIJRI delves deep into these fields and has achieved numerous breakthroughs. Consequently, a network of innovative enterprises and industry consortia with global competitiveness has emerged. This initiative has fostered a collaborative ecosystem that bridges industry and research. CSIJRI aims to become a global hub for technology transfer and commercialization, setting a benchmark for international collaboration.
