The Ninth Governing Council Meeting Successfully Convenes

On December 4, the ninth meeting of the Governing Council was held in Guangzhou. Attendees included representatives from governing bodies such as Prof Xu Yong, Vice President of SCUT; Mr Ji Si, first-level researcher of the Huangpu District Sci & Tech Bureau; and Mr Huang Weijian, Party member and Deputy Director of the CSGKC Development and Construction Office. Also present were Mr Ang Boon Peng, Senior Vice President of Strategic Cooperation at GKC JV, and the Institute's middle management. The meeting was chaired by Prof Lam Khin Yong, Vice President (Industry) of NTU Singapore and Chairman of the Governing Council.

The meeting welcomed new council members Prof Xu Yong (who also serves concurrently as Dean of CSIJRI) and Mr Huang Weijian. Letters of appointment were issued to the management of the Institute. The meeting reviewed the Institute's progress and affirmed its achievements in 2023. Meanwhile, it outlined the priorities and work plan for 2024, approved the budget for 2024, and addressed other items on the agenda.

Mr Ji Si, Mr Huang Weijian, and Mr Ang Boon Peng delineated work requirements and prospects across several domains, encompassing research commercialization, incubation, social benefits, talent exchange, and China-Singapore cooperation in science and technology.

Prof Xu hoped CSIJRI could fully utilize its technology and talent resources. He emphasized the need to explore joint training initiatives for high-level talents, strengthen talent exchanges between the two universities, accelerate technology transfer and commercialization, and delve into new areas of China-Singapore science and technology cooperation.
Prof Lam expressed his gratitude to the governing units for their support. He urged the Institute to beef up efforts in grooming high-level talents and to elevate the cooperation between the two countries and the relationship between the two universities.
