Prof Hu Xiao is the Director of the Environment Chemistry and Materials Centre (ECMC) at the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and a professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He earned his BEng from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1985, followed by an MSc and PhD from the University of Manchester in 1988 and 1990, respectively.
Prof Hu's research focuses on functional and performance polymers, environmental materials, and multi-functional nano-hybrids and nanocomposites. He has over 20 patents and has published over 300 papers.
