Dr. Chen Tupei is a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. From Feb. 1990 to Oct.1991, he was a visiting researcher at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max-Planck Society in Germany. From 1994 to 1997, he was a postdoctoral fellow at The University of Hong Kong and the National University of Singapore, and he worked in Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd from June to December 1996). He was a senior scientist at PSB Singapore for about two and half years before he joined Nanyang Technological University as an assistant professor in February 2000.

His research areas include:

  1. Micro & Nano-Electronics: This includes nanoscale CMOS devices, reliability, and process integration for ULSI technology; silicon-based LEDs; and nanoscale waveguides for on-chip optical interconnects.
  2. Novel Memory Devices: Research focuses on nanocrystal Flash memory, RRAMs/CBRAMs, analog memory, WORM, 1T-DRAM, and other advanced memory technologies.
  3. Memristors and Applications in Silicon Neural Devices: This area includes electronic neurons and synapses, with applications in neural networks.
  4. Flexible/Transparent Electronic Devices: This covers transparent and flexible high-mobility thin-film transistors, thin-film memory, thin-film circuits, high-resolution touch panels, electronic skin, and large-area flexible x-ray and ultrasonic imaging films.
  5. Nanophotonics and Solar Energy-Related Materials and Devices: Research includes holographic transparent display films, full-solar-spectrum absorbers for water purification, and thermotropic and electrochromic coatings and devices.

He has supervised and co-supervised 27 PhD students and 21 post-doctoral research staff.

With over 410 technical publications—including more than 280 SCI journal papers and over 130 conference presentations—he has also authored one book and six book chapters. He holds 10 U.S. patents and has made 12 Technology Disclosures.

He is a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-PI on 20 research projects, with a total grant amount of approximately 600 million RMB.
