Prof Pan Tso-Chien is the Founding Executive Director of the Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management (ICRM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). He earned his PhD and MS degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. Joining NTU in 1985, Prof. Pan served as Dean of the College of Engineering for five years before taking on the leadership role at ICRM in 2011. He currently leads the national R&D effort on the Natural Catastrophe Data Analytics Exchange Project.
Prof Pan specializes in analyzing and designing structures to withstand earthquake ground motions and other dynamic loads and has conducted extensive work on natural catastrophe risk assessment for major urban centers. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore, and a Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.
