Dr. Nam-Joon Choan is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley. He currently serves as an associate professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU Singapore and the Deputy Director of the Institute of Technology in Health and Medicine. Additionally, he is a principal investigator at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. His research focuses on engineering solutions for biomedical challenges and translating these capabilities into practical applications for global health. Dr. Cho's work has been featured by international media outlets such as Reuters, CNBC, and Businessweek, leading to breakthroughs in the treatment of deadly pathogens.

Dr. Choan has identified novel classes of antiviral drugs to treat hepatitis C and dengue virus infections. His team is currently examining the causes and consequences of infectious diseases and providing improved diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Dr. Choan also leads a multi-institution tissue engineering collaboration involving NTU and the Stanford University School of Medicine, focusing on developing an artificial liver platform for regenerative medicine applications.
