Prof Chen Wei Ning received his B.Sc. and D.Sc. from Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. He is the Director of the Food Science & Technology Programme at NTU Singapore. His research is highly interdisciplinary, focusing on cellular engineering platforms for pharmaceutical and environmental applications. Currently, his work is centered on metabolic and microbial engineering for the production of valuable chemicals, including biofuels, as well as environmental engineering for resource recovery and sustainable food production. He has published extensively, with more than 155 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. Prof. Chen is also a Fellow of the US Food Systems Leadership Institute (FSLI).
