On the morning of November 8, CSIJRI warmly welcomed the delegation headed by Mr Tan Hai Chuan, Singapore's Ambassador to China.
In March of this year, Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong visited CSIJRI and commended its notable achievements since its inception. In May, Mr Tan Hai Chuan expressed his keen interest in CSIJRI's development after assuming the role of Singapore's Ambassador to China.
The tour of the Institute's exhibition hall gave them a firsthand impression of accomplishments in talent exchanges, China-Singapore technology, and industrial cooperation. It facilitated a deep understanding of CSIJRI's project teams, technological innovation, and the product development initiatives undertaken by incubated companies. Commending the Institute's success in high-tech development and transfer, they acknowledged its pivotal role as a platform fostering collaboration between universities and industries.
Since its establishment in 2017, CSIJRI has focused on meeting the industrial needs of both China and Singapore. The Institute has initiated nearly 80 commercialization projects, with over half involving collaborations between the two countries. CSIJRI has been instrumental in incubating and investing in about 50 companies, including three national-level "little giants" in China specializing in innovative products for niche markets. Additionally, it has supported eight high-tech enterprises. CSIJRI aims to create demonstration sites for research commercialization across six fields, including information and communications technology, new energy, new materials, and health and life sciences.
In addition to Mr Tan Hai Chuan, those present during the visit included Mr Tuck Keat Loh, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Guangzhou, Shee Yee Tham, Director of Enterprise Singapore in China, Chen Zhiyong, Deputy Secretary of Huangpu District Committee, Zheng Yong, Director of Knowledge City Office, Deputy Director Huang Weijian, Chen Changxin, President of Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment & Development Co., Xie Xinghua, Senior Vice President of CSIJRI, Gu Haiwen, CSIJRI Vice President, and Otto WenQuan, Assistant President of CSIJRI and Director of the NTU China Office.
