Professor Tang Benzhong was elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2009 and became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) in 2013. He serves as the chief scientist for the Ministry of Science and Technology's 973 Project and several projects funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China.
Prof Tang has made significant contributions to the study of organic photoelectrical materials, particularly in the research of Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE), a concept he first proposed in 2001 and continues to lead through his research group.
To date, Prof Tang has published nearly 1,000 academic papers, which have been cited over 20,000 times, earning him an h-index of 105. In recognition of his work, he received a Natural Science Award from the Chinese Government in 2007 and a Senior Research Fellowship from the Croucher Foundation. Additionally, he was recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by Thomson Reuters in Chemistry and Materials Science from 2014 to 2016.
