Prof. Shen Ze Xiang is affiliated with the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. He serves as the Program Chair of the Interdisciplinary Graduate School and is also the Co-Director of the Centre for Disruptive Photonics Technologies.
He received the NTU Nanyang Award for Research and Innovation in 2009 and was honored with the Gold Medal for Research Excellence by the Institute of Physics Singapore in 2011. Prof. Shen has published over 500 peer-reviewed journal papers, which have been cited more than 16,000 times, resulting in an h-index of 66.

His research focuses on carbon-related materials, particularly graphene. His work includes spectroscopic and theoretical studies of few-layer graphene and folded graphene, graphene intercalation, and graphene-based composites for energy harvesting, such as lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors, as well as nanoelectronics. His team has developed several advanced graphene technologies, including a nanometer-level protective coating for lithium-ion battery electrodes using micro-gravure coating, mass production of graphene via a supercritical carbon dioxide system assisted by co-intercalation, and graphene-based electrodes for water treatment through electrolysis.
