Dr Su's research interests include the study, preparation, and utilization of plant-derived active substances, with notable achievements in developing natural D-borneol. He has been recognized as a technology innovation youth leader under the "Guangdong Special Talent Support Plan," a core member of the innovation and entrepreneurship team for the "Natural D-borneol Innovative Development" project under the Guangdong Sail Plan, a candidate in the "1,000-100-10 Program" for higher education institutions in Guangdong, and a top talent for his outstanding contributions to Meizhou City, Guangdong Province.


He was selected by China as a visiting scholar at the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Maryland, USA, from September 2016 to October 2017.
Dr Su has led over 30 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 13th Five-Year National Key R&D Programs, Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Projects, and the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation Projects, with total research funding exceeding 12 million yuan.


He has published over 80 academic papers, more than 50 of which are indexed in major databases such as SCI (Science Citation Index), EI (Engineering Index), and ISTP (Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings). His work has been cited over 1,000 times and has an H-index of 19.Dr Su has filed for over fifty domestic patents and one international patent. More than twenty of these patents have been granted, including four that have been transferred to enterprises and eight that have been implemented in commercial practices. He authored a book for the 13th Five-Year Plan and has received several prestigious awards, including the Second Prize of the Guangdong Agricultural Technology Promotion Award (first place, 2019), the China Forestry Industry Innovation Award (first place, 2018), and the Meizhou Science and Technology Progress Award (second prize, first place, 2018). Additionally, he has registered six new genes in the GenBank of the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) in the United States, where he is listed as the first author.
