Participating projects:: Research on Safety Evaluation of Urban Subway Shield Tunnels and Urban Bridge Structures

Prof Liu Tingjin is a doctoral supervisor in the Department of Civil Engineering at SCUT. He serves as the Director of the Metro Protection Research Institute and holds concurrent directorships at the China Civil Engineering Society and its Tunnel and Underground Engineering Branch. His research focuses on subway structure risk assessment and protection technology, safety evaluations for underground roads and bridges, and the development of new theories for shield tunnel structure design.

Prof Liu specializes in structural reinforcement techniques for deteriorated shield tunnels, innovative designs for new subway stations, and active deformation control methods to ensure viaduct safety. His extensive expertise has led him to oversee over 300 subway safety protection projects across cities such as Guangzhou, Kunming, Foshan, and Nanning. Additionally, he has supervised over 50 safety technology evaluation and consulting projects in underground roads and bridges.
